Description

Canon RF Extenders increase the focal length of compatible telephoto lenses while maintaining full AF and metering capabilities. The 1.4x III provides a 1.4x magnification with minimal image quality loss, while the 2x III doubles the focal length. Both feature improved optical designs with fluorine coatings for enhanced performance.

Canon Extender RF 1.4x III	Adds 40% more reach with about 1 stop of light loss. Preserves AF/AE/IS and EXIF; slight hit to AF speed and sharpness (stopping down ~1 stop helps). Examples: 400mm f/2.8 → 560mm f/4; 600mm f/4 → 840mm f/5.6; RF 100–300mm f/2.8 → 140–420mm f/4. Compatible with select RF telephoto L lenses as specified by Canon.
Canon Extender RF 2x III	Doubles focal length with about 2 stops of light loss. Greater magnification but more impact on AF speed and image sharpness—use good light and steady technique/support. Examples: 400mm f/2.8 → 800mm f/5.6; 600mm f/4 → 1200mm f/8; RF 100–300mm f/2.8 → 200–600mm f/5.6. Works with select RF telephoto L lenses per Canon’s compatibility list.

Notes: RF extenders mount directly to RF lenses (no adapter). Compatibility is limited to specific RF telephoto lenses
(typically L-series primes and certain tele-zooms). They are not for RF-S lenses or most wide/standard zooms. Autofocus performance varies by body and light level.
