The 2× gives the widest view and longest working distance for general inspection and layout/feature location, while 5× is the balanced everyday choice for dimensional and angle reads. The 10× delivers the most detail for tiny features (burrs, small radii, thread flanks) but with a smaller field and shallower depth of field, so use steady support and even illumination.
