MACROPOD Petrographic

Macropod Petrographic 6.1 Getting Started

This is an introductory video describing how to set-up and use the Petrographic Analyzer in combination with the vertical stage. This system is ideal when imaging slides/thin sections using plain and polarized light.

Macropod Petrographic 6.1:1 Image Capture

This video describes the image capture process for researchers imaging slides in plain light and offers tips about altering lighting conditions. Mark describes how to combine reflected light with transmitted light to highlight opaque subjects in slides. He shows how to add a second polarizer in order to cross polarize geological, pharmeceutical and metallurgical materials. The video ends with setting up the Micro Kit for higher magnification imaging.

Macropod Petrographic 6.1:2 Image Processing

In this video, Mark shows the user how to properly organize and rename files stored in a directory. He walks us through the stacking procedure and and the post -processing procedure of adding scalebars, rasterizing and editing the final images.
