Susan Margolis: CT Teacher Externship Program
This summer, 10 Connecticut high school and college educators will trade pencils for laser engravers and fabrication tools as they work as interns (or ‘externs’) in advanced manufacturing facilities throughout the state. Now in its 11th year, the CBIA teacher externship program immerses instructors in the latest industry practices and technologies so that when they return to their classrooms in the fall, they can pass along new ideas and information to their students. “Through these externships, teachers get to see firsthand the skills that are needed by today’s
manufacturers, so they can best prepare tomorrow’s workforce,” says Andrea Comer, executive director of CBIA’s Education Foundation. The ultimate goals of educator externships are to better prepare students for jobs in high-tech manufacturing and to help Connecticut’s manufacturers maintain a skilled, competitive workforce. Each teacher will spend 160 hours in a manufacturing facility before implementing a work-based learning project for their students resulting from their externship experiences. Work-based projects give students more realistic understanding and connections between classroom learning and how can be applied on the job.

NOTABLE MACROPOD IMAGES
|
The Macropod’s images are sometimes considered a mixture of science and art. This is because a scientific instrument is used to achieve an artistic end that is significant for discovery, observation and education. The images appease the senses and document high quality data of subjects that are associated with time and position.
Macroscopic Solutions releases many images daily and some of our most noteworthy are shown below.
