The intended use determines the required coverage, scale, texture, mesh density, exports, and review process. Macropod PRO 3D creates controlled multi-angle image sets for small and medium specimens; larger field subjects need a camera, lens, and capture plan matched to their scale. Surface movement, translucency, reflection, and fragility affect whether image-based reconstruction is suitable.
What must the finished model show?
Shape, surface detail, scale, measurement reference, mesh density, texture, point cloud, orthomosaic, and export format determine the capture coverage and Metashape processing plan.
Which capture components support the needed detail?
A configured Macropod PRO 3D uses a Canon R5 and controlled Godox MF12 lighting; current Mitutoyo objectives are added when fine detail and working distance require them. Focus stacking is used where the depth of the subject exceeds a single image plane.
How does the image set become a 3D model?
In Agisoft Metashape, images are added and aligned, depth maps or a point cloud are built, then the model, texture, scale, and exports are reviewed. The viewer below shows the result of that controlled capture-and-processing sequence.

Dolphin vertebrae 3D model

This approximately 20 cm wide dolphin vertebrae model shows the kind of large-subject 3D result produced after a carefully captured image set is aligned, reconstructed, textured, and exported from Agisoft Metashape.
