Description
MicroCoreScan 2.5 Meter 3-Axis R5 Full Micro Kit System. MicroCoreScan is a micro core scanner for tree cores, dendrochronology, narrow biological or geoscience cores, and microscopic linear features. It works like a scanning SEM in workflow concept: the sample is moved precisely through the optical path so long specimens can be documented as high-resolution stitched records with optical color and surface detail.
Best Fit
Microscopic linear samples
Designed for tree rings, micro cores, narrow samples, prepared surfaces, and long features that need repeatable optical scanning.
Two sliders, two StackShots
Two precision sliders and two StackShot controllers support variable-precision panning along the sample and focus stacking through the optical depth.
Full Micro Kit
Includes the objective-imaging path for 2x through 100x Mitutoyo M Plan Apo work; the configurator can remove objectives that are not needed.
Flexible setup
Can be configured like the main product photo or arranged in a scanner-style layout similar to the CoreBox/MacroBox scanner when sample handling calls for trays, drawers, or long specimens.
Tree-Core Imaging Examples
These MicroCore/tree-core examples show why the system belongs in the microscopic scanning family: long stitched tree-core records, interactive Gigapan review, and microscope-objective detail from the same sample.

Configuration Notes
| Configuration | Complete Full Micro Kit system |
|---|---|
| Rail length | 2.5 Meter |
| Automation | Three-axis MicroCoreScan platform with two precision sliders and two StackShot controllers for panning and focus stacking. |
| Optical path | R5 camera body, Canon RF 70-200mm tube-lens path, and the full Micro Kit objective set are included for Mitutoyo M Plan Apo 2x, 5x, 7.5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, and 100x workflows. |
| Objective review | The full Micro Kit is included, but quote review can reduce the objective set if the sample does not require every objective from 7.5x through 100x. |
| Ordering | Price is shown for planning. MicroCoreScan systems begin with quote review so rail length, objective set, camera body, shipping, and training can be confirmed before invoicing. |
| Shipping | Freight and packing are confirmed during quote review. Planning dimensions use a rail-length package at approximately 105 x 8 x 6 inches plus the configured system package. |
Applications
- Tree-ring and dendrochronology imaging
- High-resolution narrow-core scanning
- Microscopic growth-ring, cellular, mineral, and surface-feature records
- Long stitched image maps for research, teaching, and archives
- SEM-like scanning workflow where optical color and focus-stacked detail are preferred
- Configurable objective path when not every Micro Kit objective is required
Scale-bar calibration reference
Micro Kit workflows are commonly documented with the 5 mm Calibration Scale for Scientific Image Measurement, calibrated to 0.1 mm across a 5 mm range, so customers can create accurate scale bars and measurement references during capture or post-processing.
