Description
Macropod Petrographic R6 II Petrographic Microscope System. This is a petrographic microscope system for geoscientists, mineralogists, educators, and labs working with thin sections. It may not look like a conventional petrographic microscope in the product photo because the Macropod approach separates the camera, microscope objective, transmitted-light stage, polarizing/analyzer path, and stacking workflow into a more rigid, image-first architecture.
Why It Matters for Petrography
Conventional petrographic microscopes are built for direct visual observation first. Macropod Petrographic is built for high-resolution digital capture first: stable alignment, long-working-distance microscope objectives, controlled transmitted and polarized light, focus stacking, and stitched image records that can be reviewed, measured, taught from, and archived.
Best Fit
Petrographic microscope workflow
Designed for geological thin sections, mineral identification support, transmitted light, plain light, cross-polarized light, and petrography teaching collections.
Higher-quality image capture
The rigid Macropod optical path, microscope objectives, controlled illumination, and stacking workflow are intended to produce substantially cleaner digital results than ordinary eyepiece or microscope-camera capture.
R6 II camera package
Canon EOS R6 Mark II body for smaller files, lighter processing load, and lower system price when maximum R5 resolution is not required.
Standard objective path
This standard Petrographic configuration includes the 2x and 5x Mitutoyo objective workflow. Choose a Micro Kit configuration when the full 7.5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, and 100x objective path is required.

Configuration Notes
| Camera body | Canon EOS R6 Mark II body for smaller files, lighter processing load, and lower system price when maximum R5 resolution is not required. |
|---|---|
| Objective path | Mitutoyo M Plan Apo 2x and 5x objective capability with Canon RF 70-200mm infinity-corrected tube-lens path. |
| Included petrographic path | Petrographic Analyzer, transmitted-light stage, rotating polarizer/analyzer workflow, Godox MF12 flash components, StackShot control, Macropod hardware, Zerene Stacker license, support, and warranty coverage. |
| Thin-section use | Prepared for geological thin sections, petrographic slides, mineral textures, mineral inclusions, cross-polarized color records, and teaching/reference image sets. |
| Ordering | Price is shown for planning. Petrographic systems begin with quote review so the camera body, objective path, transmitted-light setup, training, and shipping can be confirmed before invoicing. |
