    Macroscopic Solutions Support answer
This staff-authored guidance is generalized. Project-specific and private details should be handled through direct support.

Request an archival full-resolution image, an appropriate high-bit-depth or lossless master when the workflow supports it, a clearly labeled derivative for publication, scale and color information, and concise capture and processing notes. Preserve original source files separately. Cropping, retouching, compositing, and contrast adjustments should be documented when they could affect scientific interpretation.

    Staff-authored common question
This generalized question is based on recurring support conversations. It is not a customer quotation, and identifying details have been removed.

Which files and documentation help a finished image remain useful beyond a presentation or quick web export?
